An NC landmark. At milepost 294 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, at Blowing Rock in North Carolina, you will find the estate of the late Moses Cone. It is known as Flat Top Manor, Flat Top, Moses Cone Manor, Moses Cone Estate, and the Moses Cone Estate. Sometimes it is even just called the Parkway Craft Center, which is a major component of the manor house today. It was built between 1899-1901 by the textile giant, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Moses H. Cone. The home and park is operated by the US Park Service and is open to the public. My photos there may appear odd. It's true, but not on purpose.... the one brief visit I had at the estate in passing was during a very busy time when it was overrun with tourists. Most shots I took were full of curious sightseers and screaming children. For well over 30 years he has worked as a law enforcement officer and paramedic, including time as an administrator, educator, and government regulator. He has responded to multiple national disasters and served celebrities, Governors, and Presidents along the way. He is a SAG-AFTRA eligible working film/television actor with dozens of credits in films, shows, commercials, industrials, and theater.
