Description
There is no greater post in the U.S. Army, nor one with more responsibility than that of a Sentinel at the Tomb of the Unknowns in Arlington National Cemetery. Every American should learn about the honor of the Sentinel, about the post he walks and the soldiers he guards 24 hours a day without fail. Every American should stand there in silence in person at least once in their lives and witness the Changing of the Guard. It isn't just a ceremony in a graveyard. That is America at it's finest. Here I tried to honor the Sentinels and those who have been interred previously and currently as unknowns in this photo. I took the photo of a Sentinel walking his 21 steps and blended in photos of American warriors from previous wars as if they are walking the post with the Sentinel. In fact, they could be spirits of those lost who are one with those walking the post. Or, are they the ones being duly guarded? For the veterans out there, I hope no one takes offense. My intent is to honor these with all my heart.

What a beautiful image -- love the "ghostly" figures, including one carrying someone. Really touching. L/F
