Description
This building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, stands in the historic Rockford community of Surry County, N.C. on the banks of the Yadkin River. It has a lengthy history, not just in this community, but also in the world of the Freemason. A Masonic Order was first organized in the Huntsville community, in neighboring Yadkin County, and known as the Shallowford Lodge on January 20, 1795. In 1797, the Charter was changed to Unanimity Lodge #34 and it moved to this building in Rockford. By the year 1800, Rockford had a bustling population of... 47. In 1806 the charter was arrested and the lodge became extinct. Now, I fancy it for its eye-catching yellow doors.
