Description
Here you see the famous Mile High Swinging Bridge that spans between two peaks atop North Carolina's Grandfather Mountain. It gets its name from being one mile above sea level and from being a swinging foot bridge. Many daring visitors to this state park love to walk across the bridge and climb onto the rock cliffs on the other side where they get breathtaking views of forests, lakes, and other amazing scenery. On a perfectly clear day (which this clearly was not) you can actually see the Charlotte, NC skyline 90 miles away from the rock formation on top of Grandfather Mountain. This photo is also available in full color.
